replacing one piece rear main seal
how hard is this to do??
the tranny is already out
is there any special procedure to remove the old one and put in the new??
i took a look behind the flexplate (which i am having problems getting off because it rotates when i try to loosen the bolts) and the RMS looks pretty ragged
thanx in advance

as far gettin the flexplate off, wedge a screwdriver handle, block of wood or the like between one of your accessory belts and a pulley and when you crank on the flexplate bolts, the block will wedge itself and the tension on the belt will keep the engine from turning.
to get the seal out, unbolt the carrier thing (not sure what it's called), you may have to loosen the oil pan, can't remember. pry out the old seal, oil up the new one and press it in. i placed a 2x4 on it and pounded it in evenly. now put everything back together.

It's designed to be pryed out without loosening the oil pan or the aluminum housing.
