If its a F-body or Vette YES its a roller however the truck blocks were flat tappet.

High points of the hyd roller over a flat roller:

- Much longer lasting due to less friction
- Less friction = more power
- Roller can follow a steeper ramp, therefore the ability to:
- Open the valve faster
- Open the valve higher
- Less advertised duration with more @ .050" = smoother idle
- No break-in procedure
- New cam can be used with old lifters, no "matched wear" to worry about

And the disadvantages that I can think of?

- Higher priced
- Some aftermarket cams require bronze distributer gear which wears too fast on the street IMO, especially with a HV/HP oil pump
- Heavy *** lifters require crazy springs and/or rev kit if you're shooting for high RPM's (This only true for Hyd Roller, not solid roller, although you still need some good springs as solid rollers usually have some massive lift figures )

NO. The truck blocks were equipped for a roller cam but did not come with them until '96.
