Is the shaft and mag pickup the same for all years and models of HEI
In another thread, I detailed how I screwed up my HEI, and now I'm finding none of the junkyards have one that will swap into my camaro, but I really only need the guts, not the rest of it etc.

The mag pickup will work in any V8 small cap HEI.
The shaft (I assume you're talking about the inside shaft that runs all the way to the bottom, and has the distrutor gear mounted on the bottom) won't swap out of anything else that I'm aware of. Not even a 4.3 V6 since the shaft has the "teeth" that match up with the 8-cyl mag pickup permanently mated to it.
