passenger power window prob. HELP!!!
whats up guys, today I found out that I have a problem w/ my passenger side power window-it'll go up or down but at some point it'll stop, then you have to wait about 10 sec before I can put it up or down(I found this out, its almost like it needs time to power up or something)
has anyone had this problem before? if so what do I have to do to fix it? get a new motor? cause thats what I was thought was the problem-it can't be any faulty wires cause its getting the signal(to go up or down)
thanks for any help guys

sounds like the the motor is drawing too much current and engaging the thermal circuit breaker. once the breaker cools off, the window will move a little bit again.
could try replacing the brushes inside the motor. more details and some pictures are avaliable at:

Yep, when the motor needs replacing, they overheat, then you have to let it cool off before it'll move again.Got the same problem on my wife's blazer right now. Replacing it's a pain in the a**, but motors are cheap now.Got mine at Pep Boys for about $45.
Also, recently found a place called Lowesville Automotive Warehouse
(800) 428-3522
They just quoted me $34 each for New Blazer Window Motors!

thanks guys for the info., before I spend any money on getting a new motor, what do you think about lubing the motor w/ either silicone or a cleaner type substance to "revive" the current motor?

Same thing happened to my dad's chevy truck; the window woudl go up a bit, then stop. A bit later, you could raise it an inch, and it would stop. A new motor fixed it. We bought one out of JC Whitney for $60, same motor as our Firebirds use, by the way. The thing was either new, or it was cleverly rebuilt- the case was stamped GM! Replacing it was, of course, a pain, but definatly doable. Make sure to read up on it; you need to drill thru the sector gear and bracket, to put a bolt in it, because otherwise, if you just drill out the motor rivets, the spring in the regulator will explode on you. It's no big deal (you can drill the sector gear anywhere, and use any bolt through the bracket & gear to keep it in place). We actually removed his regulator (small little thing compared to ours!), and replaced the motor on the bench. We reattached the regulator to the doors without using rivets. We did the same thing I had done on my Firebird. (My power doors rusted out, I put my power internals into rust-free non-power doors.) I used a fat & short bolt, which filled up the entire rivet hole, slapped some red loctite on the threads, and used a lockwasher and nut on it.
Oh and honestly, if you're going to go thru the hell of replacing the brushes, you might just want to replace the motor! Maybe keep the old motor in case you ever need parts. JC Whitney didn't ask us to send the old core in, which makes me think that they might've really been new motors.

replacing the brushes is considerably easier than replacing the entire motor assembly because the motor does not need to be removed from the door.
are other things that can go wrong with a motor besides just the brushes wearing out. so replacing the brushes may not fix the weak motor, but it often does.
