motor differances?
motor differances?
I almost had a car today. We went out look at a 91 trans am GTA, thinking it had a 350, and then when we were about to make an offer he said"yup, the 305 is pretty hopped up". I couldn't believe it was a 305, it sounded awesome. It was an auto 305 so it only got 205hp. The guy had spent some money on it, but i want to know the differance it the 5-speed 305 and the automatic 305, that give the 5-speed 25 more hp. I thouht i once heard that it was differant cams in them. So does that mean that if i put an aftermarket cam in it, it would regain the lost hp, and then some?
BTW; still thinking about getting the car and making it a standard. Its in great shape!

The G92 option with 305/5spd I believe is where the HP difference comes in.
1990-1992
305 5spd / 305 AT 10088155* .350 .384 179 194 109.0
305 G92 5spd / 350 AT 10111773* .413 .428 202 207 114.5 (116/-116)
1990-1992
305 5spd / 305 AT 10088155* .350 .384 179 194 109.0
305 G92 5spd / 350 AT 10111773* .413 .428 202 207 114.5 (116/-116)
