Would these match a stock 89 Bird?

If I just bolt these heads up would I have to worry about changing the cam? Or do you know of a better set of heads for a cheaper of slightly higher price? Right now I'm looking for something to bolt on rather then headers and exhaust.

Those are excellent heads. They'll bolt right up, except you'll need to mill them to 58cc if you want to keep your compression ratio at 9.3:1 and you should be able to just use your old rockers on the Vortecs.

Vortecs are definitely the most efficient head out there right now and they're an excellent price.

I am planning on going with the vortecs. But do remember, your stock lower intake manifold will not, fit on those vortec heads. You have to buy a vortec intake manifold. Aftermarket is just now getting to the vortecs, so there are a couple out there, but I can't remember who make it, its either holley or edelbrock. But anyways, those are a good budget head.

Yes Edelbrock has realized the popularity of these heads and they are beginning to equip almost all of their intakes with Vortec patterns.

Give those heads a little port work and it should really wake them up. My car is a low 14 sec with my mods and after a little machine work I expect to be in the 13s. BTW several mags have tested these heads and have nothing but praise for them.
