Illegal/Legal Question

Since im putting a rebuilt engine in my car would it be illegal to reset the mileage back to Zero, so that I can have a very accurate account of mileage. If its legal what will be the fastest way to accomplish this: Using a drill turning the speed ohmeter cable forward or taking the dash apart and rolling the numbers by hand...

Generally, it's illegal. Just write the number down and keep it handy.

Always wanted to ask.. Would installing a brand new speedometer (for better looks; old one all messed up; whatsoever) considered as a rollback fraud, or would I have to match the new odometer display with my old one to get away with the installation?

here the seller has to state the milage and if it is accurate or not. swapping in a speedo is fine and legal you just have to tell the seller it isn't accurate. considering all the new friends you'll make in prison and the jack you'll have to put out if you're caught i would even think about it.

i think we're all done talking about this on here also since there is no limit to the amount of trouble some of us might get into.
