crossfire to tpi anyone?

Has anyone out there done this operation before? I am thinking about doing this to my 1982 TA. My crossfire hasn't given me any greif in the 4+ years I've owned it. I just want more power and I love the way TPI looks on an engine.

I tried converting to TBI a couple years ago but I ran into some problems and ended up putting the CFI stuff back on b/c I was to eager to drive it. I didn't realize that the wireharness for the two systems were completely different. Also the VATS was a roadblock. I'm sure I would have these same obstacles when going to TPI but at least there is more parts available for people doing this conversion. I wouldn't let those obstacles get in the way If I went TPI now that I have a 98 formula to have fun in for the meantime.

If anyone out there has done this or something similar, What is a good ballpart estimate of what something like this would cost? Is the cost and effort worth the performance upgrade? Should I just stick with CFI and use the money to tune it, get some bigger Throttle Bodies, better heads, cam, and computer?

I need some advice on the most efficient way to make this dog move!

Thanks in advance

if you want to mod it go here
www.crossfire.webhop.net

End result to a modified crossfire, will be similar to a modified stock induction tpi setup. Low 13's are entirely possible. With the proper work.

If you want it quick and easy and cheap. Put a carb on it, evil t/a will help you out.

If you want to spend more money than necessary head over to the tpi board and ask.

If your planning a hot engine underneath,(350+hp) do not use a stock tpi setup, look aftermarket stealthram/super ram.

I do suggest though, if the crossfire is giving you grief, find out why before you start to change parts. You could very well end up with the same problem with a different induction, if the problems werent induction related in the first place.

I'm in the middle of a CFI/TPI swap.
Get a wrecked car for parts. I got an 87 GTA for a parts car.
Not only did I get the entire TPI set-up, but also got a new 700R4 (nice upgrade from 200C), a 9-bolt posi disc brake rear end (+proportioning valve, master cyl and metric brake lines which I needed with the drum to disc conversion), a dual radiator fan set-up, an extra ECM, hatch hold-up rods, high press fuel pump,etc,etc..
Best part is after I'm done picking parts I can sell it for a few hundred bucks!!

Anyone need 87 GTA body parts?!?!
