Fuel pump keeps coming on???

I've looked in the archieves and found something similar but couldn't tell if my problem was the same.

Today after changing my oil I was flushing the radiator and while opening the drain plug I noticed the fuel pump was coming on, but the key was off and halfway pulled out of the ignition. I pulled the relay by the firewall but it still kept coming on every few minutes and then it shuts off and repeats this until I disconnect the battery. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this possibly an oil pressure sending unit relay? going bad.

Thanks for any help. I just got this IROC yesterday and I'm just trying to work out the bugs since it's benn sitting for a year.

Thanks,
Tim

You can always make a manual switch for this, just like you can you fan. Thats my suggestion.

Re: Fuel pump keeps coming on???

The problem you described is your oil pressure/fuel switch that goes into the side of your block next to the oil filter. Or next to the Distributor towards the rear of the engine. Check the plug by wiggleing it around if the fuel pump comes on then most likely it is the switch itself. $25.00 at most parts stores. $50. at your local Chevy dealer for the same identical switch.

Good Luck!

I'll vote for wiring or the auxilliary oil pressure switch:
