Weight difference between 3rd and 4th gen.

I was just wondering what the weight difference was between the 3rd and 4th gen, i know that the 4th gen weights less but how much less.

Are you referring to just the weight? Or the cars in general? Depends on the options.

Weird, sorry for some reason, I thought the topic read What's the diff between a 3rd Gen and 4th Gen, I didn't see the weight in the title.

I don't think the 4th gens weigh less. Still depends on options though.

I looked up the curb weights for them:

1985 Z28 3,251 lbs
1987 Z28 3,062 lbs
1989 IROC-Z 3,107 lbs
1991 Z28 3,103 lbs
1993 Z28 3,373 lbs
1995 Z28 3,390 lbs
1997 Z28 3,442 lbs
1999 Z28 3,439 lbs

You have to make sure you're weight ratings are automatic vs automatic or manual vs itself with same options, otherwise you can't really compare very well. I would think the 4th gen would be lighter(especially later on) because of the different body and engine materials used.
