Installed New Belt

Last week I installed a new serpentine belt cause my old one was lookn beat up. After putting the new one on I noticed it makes a whining noise now. It sounds like I have a supercharger on it around 4k. I'll put a vid up after my car is out of the shop. Does neone else have this happen to their car after installing a new belt? The car still runs fine.

What brand belt did you get? Cheap belts tend to make more noise then the high quality ones. You might give the belt a few sprays of WD40. Sometimes a dry belt will give you a squeel too.

i think i'd leave the wd 40 off my belts. they make spray on "belt dressing" that helps and there is some in a tube, looks like gasket sealer that works good too.

WD 40 will ruin a belt, it is a petrolium product, which isn't good for rubber belts and such. Also it will impregnate the belt and make the fiber coards swell.

you could also use a wax crayon. At least this is what I've heard, but I've always stuck with the belt dressing when I needed it.
