Ignition module Question
My engine refuses to rev past 5000 rpm. I have all the choice parts in it but the only thing left "factory" is the ignition module.
Do I need an aftermarket module to get past 5000 rpm or is the factory Delco unit fine?

I doubt it's really causing your problem, but the factory ignition control module sounds like crap at higher RPM's and I would suggest replacing it anyways. You can get an Accel module for about $50, it's a direct replacement and smooths the top end out a lot. To answer your question though, my engine revs past 5000 no problem with either module.

Replace the module but not with an aftermarket unit. Thier too damn much money. Get one from the dealer or any autoparts shack. Almost all of these modules are made by the same company anyways.
But like it was stated earlier, it's probably not your module.
Good luck.

Something to think about, if your timing is off the motor won't rev very high, this is a tried and true fact cause when they have the midnight races all the 10-12 second cars back their timing waay down so they can hook, cause they don't treat the track with all the ricers and other street cars-the event is really for them anyway, but we still take their money, anyway back to point, they usually back it down from 40-20 and the motor has a hard time reaching a half way "normal" shift points.
