What do you all think?

Well I posted yesturday about a 89 T/A GTA and I would like to say thank you for the info and for directing me to a gta website..
Now about the car.. 89 GTA with 5.7 and auto.. Maroon in color (needs a paint job).. The car has 137000 miles on it.. It is at my a freinds shop he is a mechanic. He is selling it for a lady he knows.. I test drove the car and it moves really good.. All of the options work in the car.. The leather seats are worn.. The interior could use a good detailing and shampoo, and either new seats or some nice seat covers.. The car needs a paint job, and is missing the two sail panel badges.. The car needs at least a new water pump, The rear hatch will close and lock but you can still lift up on it I guess the little electric motor that draws it down is bad.. the car pulls to the right. these are the only things I know about.. The mechanic has been a family freind for years and was supposed to look the car over for me. Is there any questions I should ask him specificaly to look for.. The car is for sale at $1500.00 firm.. I can get it painted for about 700.00 to 800.00 from anthor friend who runs a paint shop what are your opinions. Thank you

Sounds reasonable, if it's rust-free, and you like the car, go for it. Most of that stuff is not alot of money to fix up.

The rear hatch latch may just be loose. There are three bolts that hold it in place and they can come loose. See if your friend can help you investigate the pull to the right more. It may just be low tire pressure or something. Mine pulled slightly to the right and I bought it anyway. I brought it to my uncles shop for alighnment and they said it must have nailed a curb real hard or something cause there was only so much they could do to correct it but it wouldn't eat my tires up or anything. That was 3 years ago and the tires show no unusual wear at all. Since I drive it every day I don't even notice the slight pull anymore. But I would at least look under the car for any obvious damage.

1500 bucks is a great deal though.

Yup, I agree with that. I'd go for it, assuming there is no bad rust on it.
