Damn damn damn!

ok, help me!

I have a 400 ci sbc, Mallory HyFire ign box, MSD Blaster 2 coil, carter 600 carb, etc. The car drove fine for the first few weeks I owned it, but then it started randomly missing. It would run fine, then all of a sudden start missing bad for a few minutes, and then be fine again.

I drove my car down the street to meet some buddies, and it was randomly missing every once in a while on the way up. When I left, I pulled out and it died. Started it up, babied it home, parked it. The next day it wouldn't start at all. The wires were pretty old and crappy, so I got new ones, and changed the fuel filter. I changed 2 wires (#1 and #2) and tested it. It fired right up. Got happy and changed all the wires, and the trash came, threw the old ones out. Then I tried to start it. Nope. I said screw it, and went inside. Next day, I tried to start, no luck. Pulled the #2 plug to see if I was getting spark. Nope. Connected the plug to the coil wire. No spark. Tried an old coil wire with the plug. No spark. I got fuel, for sure, and it's spinning. Spark is hiding somewhere. Any ideas? Thanks in advance....

I bet you it's that POS Mallory box. I've seen it happen way too many times. I'd say get rid of it and either hookit up stock or install an MSD box.

yeah could be the box or a bad wire(s), maybe a bad ground or power.. test every little bit and find the culprit..

Sounds to me like an ICM going bye bye

For the cost of the SR you may as well pay a few bucks more for a Mallory. Don't try and mix an MSD ICM with that Mallory box otherwise you might have a boxing match under your hood.

If Mallory doesn't make one, then just get the SR.
