2.8 carb to mpfi swap...

I'm going to swap the carb off for fi on my friends camaro... will the mpfi intake manifold bolt directly up to his heads? I know I need the ECM, Intake, wiring harness.... is that it? what am I missing here? Never really messed with the FI system before, I stick to carbs, so what exactly do I need and not? and how much of a bitch is it to get the harness out?

thanks

I won't ask why "your friend" is going through the trouble when he could swap in an sbc for the same amount of sweat. Anyway, the manifold should bolt right up. But in addition to what you listed, you will also need a new fuel pump and pickup assembly to go in the gas tank. You will also have to make the necessary modifications to the fuel line, as you will need to replace any of the rubber lines and also make provisions for the fuel filter. Obviously the wiring it up is the most difficult aspect of this swap. Make sure the wiring harness from the donor is from an 86 or an 85 and it isn't spliced or damaged. Also, get a Chiltons or something with a good electrical diagram of both cars so you can make the necessary modifications.
