Removing crank sprocket

Anyone know a good way to remove a crank sprocket while the crank is in the block?

Unfortunatly I was shipped the wrong timing chain set and this cam sprocket to match is not for a roller block and does not fit so now we have to switch to the correct set.

crank sprocket

get a cheap gear puller any auto parts store should have one to rent or buy. If I remember correctly mine just slid right off once the balancer was off.

yep, use a gear puller, they aren't pressed on very tight, usually they'll about fall off.

The crank sprocket is pressed on in pretty much the same way as the dampener is. A crank sprocket installation tool is a bushing that's used with a harmonic dampener installer.

I use a metal coat hanger and hang it in front of the torpedo heater for a couple of minutes. Slides right on easily.

I threw mine in the oven for a litle while, slid it on and gave it a couple love taps with a rubber mallet to make sure it was all the way on there.
