I rebuilt my first V8 because of the same prob... spun bearing. If you have the time and friends that know this kinda stuff it would be a great learning experience for you. Be cheaper to just put another engine in it... or junk it and sell me your steering box

I bought the truck for $1300 and I have invested a little over $1500 to keep it running so I am not going to put money into a motor. I would like to get rid of it and get a little bit of money out of it. It has a new clutch in it. Well it is about a year old but new enough. If you want to come pull it off then come on over and have all you want. I just want to get the truck running for the rest of the winter so I can trade it in on something else this spring. I was hoping it would last until spring but she didn't even make it to far into the winter. I don't know if I have any friends that know how to do that stuff. I have a friend that THINKS he knows everything (we all know someone like this). I am afraid to ask him to help me fearing he might screw something up (like it would matter) and not beable to even junk the truck.

I kinda agree with the other post, If you threw a rod there should be some Major internal damage. Is it more like a loud Knock, Knock sound... that would indicate a bad bearing. Even that would require a complete rebuild with possibly new crank and rod.
