free goodies

a guy my friend works with wrecked his monte, threw all the hot rod parts off of it into his garage, and has finally decided to clean this garage out

guess who just got about $700 worth of free parts

here's what i got:

holley 4160 600 cfm carb
water pump
nearly brand new oil pump
box of nuts, bolts, lifters, etc
and best of all...................1.6 ratio comp cams roller tip rockers

i think i am going to use these rockers on my 350 i am building......for these (because they are 1.6 ratio) what do i need to do to my heads?

i saw the comp cams louis tool that you can use to cut the pushrod slots emlinating the need for guideplates

is that all i will need? or is there more i have to do?

I could be mistaken, but I thought the "Louis" tool (drill bushing. to the rest of us) was used to elongate the push rod holes in heads with non-self aligning rockers (older style heads) for clearance. You cannot make a head designed for self aligning rockers into one that uses non-self aligning rockers without guide plates.

You're right. By you first post, I wasn't sure what you were running and what you might be thinking. The Louis tool can be used to elongate the push rod hole in your '416s if you get into a higher lift cam and need more push rod travel (top to bottom).

Free tools and parts come with a price that's hard to beat.
