somethings wrong Red exaust

I just swaped from a 2.8 to a 3.4 in a 86 camaro and the engine runs fine but its getting reall hot and the exaust manafold turns red.?????? anyideas?

Hugeky retarded timing.... check the dist placement obviously, make sure the ESC connector that you unplug to set the timing is hooked up

Like he said, very retarded timing or your car is running VERY lean.

problem... the engine orginally had electroninc ignigtion on it with sensors to set the timing. well I put a distributer on and there is no mark on the block to use a timing light. How could I set the timing???
