my 1987 camaro, 305 tpi, the oil pressure guage inside the car jumps around when i press the gas, is this bad?? what is it? and what should be done about it? and will it be expensive to fix? thanks a lot, please help asap, thanks, also, its done it since i bought it

 

If it reads maybe 20-30 at idle, and goes up to 50 or so when cruising, then it's doing exactly what they always do. That's what it's designed to do in fact. Normal, no cause for alarm.

When you worry... is when it goes to zero, doesn't move, and the engine starts making mechanical noise like scraping and ticking and banging. When that happens it's time to shut it off and walk. The bill to fix it will be less that way..
