Need Tech Help with TC

I would like to put a 2000-2400 torque converter in my 700r4. I am a novice and would like to do it at home. Can I do it at home and is it easy to install. I have heard that a TC make a great difference in performance.

Do I need any special tools?

No "special tools", just the right tools:
a long extension helps to reach the bell housing bolts, other than that, basic hand tools.
Drop the drive shaft and torque arm.
Disconnect the trans crossmember.
Support the trans with a hydraulic jack and wood supports for the pan.
Remove the inspection plate.
Disconnect the T/C from the flex plate.
Remove the bell housing bolts.
Disconnect the trans linkages (shifter and TV cable)
Move the trans back far enough to remove the TC.
Replace with new TC.
BTW - draining fluid makes the job less messy.
