Its probably been asked before...but

I searched the forums..and i didnt see the answer. its a pretty stupid and simple question..i plan to buy a rebult vortec motor from a truck(rated at 255 hp, 5.7 liter) and install it in my tbi car...my question is..i have this camshaft, that i was given, its a high energy 260h made by comp cams...will this cam work in this vortec engine with the roller lifters?

I don't know about the lifters working, but you have to make sure the lift isn't over .455 or whatever vortec's crap out at.

the cams lift is .440....ran this cam with that truck vortec engine through desktop dyno...over 350 hp with headers, not bad at all! wonder how accurate desktop dyno is..

you need a cam made fro hudrolic roller lifters if you want to run hydrolic roller lifters, can't run a flat cam with rollers. i wouldn't run a cam that was given to me, or a used cam for that matter.

Like ede said, you can't run roller lifters on a flat tappet cam. So that won't work.

If you don't have the lifters that were used with that cam, labelled so you can out them back onto the same lobes they were used with, then the cam is worthless.

If that's really a roller motor (not a sure thing) then look at the Comp "302" grind roller cam, 08-302-8 http://www.competitioncams.com/catalog/082_083.html

if you need a cam just buy a roller cam. no need to buy a whole new motor!

if its a flat tappet can you can just add flat tappet lifters. but then youd need pushrods too...

just a suggestion or 3
