90 camaro L98 Loses Oil Pressure

I know this subject has been gone over....just a quick question..

my oil pressure drops after i get off the highway, or after i drive hard. it only drops when i am sitting. when i am driving it is fine. but everytime i stop, it drops all the way down and starts fluttering.

once the car cools off, oil pressure is fine..
...could it be just the sending unit going out?
or something else. I was reading some posts last night and saw some people talking about changing the sending unit..if that is bad, will it just quit working, or can it cause what my guage is doing ??

IROC,

Thanks for sending the Cubs back this spring. It looks like you may have finally got them trained right!

As for you oil pressure, the sending unit could be part or all of the problem. The most definite method to determine that is to connect a mechanical gauge to the engine and compare the readings.

Incidentally, what kind of oil and viscosity are you using?

i have been putting mobil 1 10w/40 for awhile...
synthetic only..

engine has 103,000 + on it

hey could someone check my post in the tranny forum plz?

If you can borrow a mechanical gauge, you'd know with some degere of certainty if the dash gauge is correct.

10W40 Mobil 1? I can only find 5W30, 10W30, and 15W50...
