I messed up big time...

My fuel pump diaphram blew on my 305 and it started dumping gas into my engine, and i ran it like that for 20 mins, by the time i noticed it, it was too late....now my oil pressure dropped to 30psi cruising and 15psi idling.....is this bad? Should i start looking for a new engine?, my oil pressure was 45psi idling and 55psi cruising until this happened......what should i do?

your oil preasure is/was fine. might want to change your oil and filter, and fix the fuel pump before you drive it any more.

thanks for the reply....I already changed the oil and filter, and changed the fuel pump....but my oil pressure is still meassed up...it used to be between 40psi and 60psi...but now it's between 15psi and 30psi, there has to be something wrong with the engine...somebody said I likeley messed up my cam bearings...is this true?

You may well have done some bearing damage. Engines have managed to live a long time on 15psi so don't go panicing quite yet. Run 20w50 (if you aren't already) to help things last a little longer.

Out of curiosity, what kind of pump was it?

I can't see 20 minutes of runtime doing that much damage. Maybe you cleaned out some passageways of gunk, and pressure dropped back to normal?

What about running castrol heavy duty sae 40 weight, instead of 20w50?
