1.6 Crane RR's and Valve Clearance.
1.6 Crane RR's and Valve Clearance.
Okay I just test fitted my stock valve covers to see if it will clear the crane 1.6 roller rockers and it didn't go quite all the way down for some reason. I think it might be either because the heads were machined for both center bolt vc's and normal vc's and the edge of my vc's doesn't fit over that lip(side screw holes for pre 87? vc's) or that my valve covers are too small. Does anyone have 1.6 rr's that fit under the stock vc's? I may be able to fix this problem with 2 gaskets to increase the height but it may lead to oil leakage.

What kinda heads? If those are the Dart heads... there is an issue with them, and so far I dont think anyone has gotten the centerbolt valve covers to fit right. It is the bosses for the perimeter bolt that is the problem on those heads. Getting taller valve covers or doubling up the gasket if thats the case wont help at all. You will either need to grind away the boss (dont know that anyone has with sucess) or use perimeter bolt valve covers.

They are the World Product SR torquer 305 heads and I think its the same thing you are describing with the dart heads. But instead couldn't I just grind the inner lib of the vc's to slide over those embosses?

I have the Dart Pro 1 heads and Moroso CB valve covers. I had to grind the inner lip of the valve covers where the perimeter style bolt hole bosses were to get the VCs to seat properly.
Total grinding was about an inch for each bolt hole.
