Need advice on Fuel pump install...

I just blew my Mallory 3 port regulator that I had been using with my stock fuel pump to keep the pressure down for my carb. I've been told I'm going to keep blowing these becouse they are not made to handle the pressure the factory pump puts out.

So I'm going to go with a Holley Blue fuel pump and regulator. My questions are can I leave the stock pump in there? And if so do I have to power the stock pump? I've read so many posts saying with mixed responces that I don't know what to think.

Thanks for your time,
Matt

you ought to be able to leave the factory in tank pump in place and not power it. i'd used mechanical pumps and pulled thru the in tank pump with no problems.

Thanks ede! I just remembered that I have a perfectly good mechanical pump in the garage. I'll try that out.

Thanks again,
Matt
