Bringing car out of a 8 year storage.
I am getting my Uncle's Monte Carlo SS(i know its not a thirdgen, but the tech info can be related to any car) The Monte is an 86, and has about 40k on it. When it was parked it had some gas in it, not full, I doubt there was anything like sta bil or anything in it either. The car has original tires on it and everything. The car has been sitting on concrete in a heated / cooled garage. It hasn't been under a cover or anything, so its terribly dusty. My first question is what all should i do to it before I try starting it.
Here is what I was going to do when I got it here, before starting it.
1. Change oil.
2. Change Tranny Fluid.
3. Change Rear End Fluid.
4. Change Brake Fluid
5. Change Coolant.
6. Wash the thing. and clean up the interior
7. I will also prolly rebuild the carb on it if I have to.

You may have to copy and paste them.
The car will become a daily driver, that way i can save some money to work on the real project.

Everything you said you were going to do sounds good......But I would also Pre-lube the motor before I would start cranking it. Also I have heard if a motor sits to long that whatever valves were on top of the lobs on the cam would make the valve spings weak because they were in a compressed state for a long time. They say that in just one year that will happen. You say it has been sitting for 6 years I would prolly replace the valve springs just to be safe. You are going to want to replace the valve cover gasgets anyway as long as they have been sitting there they are prolly pretty hard and will start leaking in no time. Don't forget the spark plugs, Air cleaner, PVC Valve......Hope this helps Ya!
By the way them are some sweet a@@ cars I love the Monte SS's:lala:

I have some GM EOS (Engine oil supplement) which is GM's assembly lube. should i pour that on all the valve train. It sounds like a good idea to put new valve springs in, I never would have thought of that. Pull the distributer and then use a pre luber. One of the first things i am going to do is go for an open element air cleaner, on my friend's 91 RS camaro there was a pretty decent difference going to that over his tbi air cleaner, I will put new plugs in it, and check over the rest of the ignition system.

I would not worry about using the GM EOS. The cam and lifters allready have a wear patteren so just a good pre lube should be all you need.
When you have the Pan plug pulled out you should dump a quart of oil in and let it run right out the bottom kinda like a flushing.....Just to help get all the old oil out of the pan.

good advice above....check all your hoses for cracking..look at those tires for checking ...check thos brakes for rusting..then flush the cooling system and do everything else others have stated..
flush Then do a quick oil change 500 mi or so!!

The rear tires are flat, and the tires i believe are the original ones that came on the car, maybe not, but they are junk, i know it needs tires. but thanks for the advice so far.
