Please Help Soon!!
hey guys,
Today I was adjusting the tv kickdown cable and I think I made a big mistake. Instead of pushing the cable all the way down towards the back of the motor, I like pushed it towards me so that it ratcheted all the way back towards me. So I took it for a test drive and man did it shift high. It also waited forever to shift. So after about a couple minutes of driving my oil pressure dropped , LOW. When I was stand still, it was at ZERO. So I came home and found out the real way to adjust it. So can you guys tell me what I did to my baby. Why is my oil pressure so low now. Thanx guys. Oh yeah its an 88 Iroc tuned port 305. There are no oil leaks, my car idles fine, it sounds fine and runs fine, i checked the oil and it is full. Could it possibly be the oil sending unit or the gauge? Please help soon, thanx.

any ticking or knocking when the pressure is low? Does the gauge tend to jump like crazy? I've had 2 thirdgens that either had the sending unit go bad or the gauge itself. I would give the sending unit an inspection to see what's going on there.

I don't think you did anything too bad to it. If you were able to drive it home without any ticking and you don't have oil all over the engine bay then I don't think you hurt it too bad. Like QTA said, it sounds like the gauge or the sending unit. The only way I can see you messing anything up is by letting the RPM's go up too high when it was shifting late. How high did they go before it shifted? Double check and make sure there isn't any oil in the engine bay.

i think they highest my revs got up to was about 2600 or so but it was there for a good 4-5 seconds because of the late shift. then it came back down to 1600 when i was doing 60 mph.

alright guys,
i think i got it figured out but i think its gonna turn out for the better. my friends dad owns a shop and my friend works there so after he got off we put the car on the lift. the fricken camaro was leaking oil. my friend said that i blew a main cap bearing or the oil could be leaking out from the valve cover gasket or head gasket. So i think were just gonna rip out the old 100,000 mile 305 and put in a 350!!!! Can you guys give me a couple of companies or places that i can get a really good price on a complete 350. I want around 300-350 horsepower and i will be swapping my fuel injection over to it. I have a tuned port so it should be a nice smooth swap. Please respond with what you think on the topic and places that have good motors and prices. Thank you very much.
