I wanted to change my 305 TBI into the open air. I was looking at a summit catalog and didn't know which one to get.
Any suggestions would be great

K&N: 14' 3'
14' 4'
14' 5'
Edlebrock makes two different ones
Elite is about $60
the other is about $25
Both 14' 3'

And summit has a 14' 3' for about $20

Can anyone tell me the best one and if there is anydifference between them. On the ult tbi in the tech section it looks to be the cheaper edlebrock should i just get that one???

 

first off you need to worry about hood clearance...so you want the 14x3 cleaner. that means it's 14 inch diameter and 3 inches tall. I've never seen a TBI car so i cant say how much room is in there but i would imagine the 3" will fit. i have one on my carb and it just barely fits, you can see the indent on the roof insulation. and i would just go for the summit one, it's probably chrome so it will look half decent. unless you want to spend the $60 and get the nice edelbrock. and for $60 i doubt the k&n comes w/ a filter....

p.s. maybe post to the tbi board and ask if the 3" will clear the hood

I had a 4" that cleared...

 

could just get a mr gasket or something from local parts store... just make sure its non drop if you plan to remove the "gold" ring
