Any Merit to This Lifter Conversion?

Anyone tried this hydraulic roller lifter conversion? It would appear that the cam tunnel would be too stressed. Maybe the use of helicoil would ease this stress. What do ya think?

I wouldn't do it. It's not really worth it. Roller cams aren't THAT much better than flat tappet cams.

Sure they have their advantages, but to go through all that trouble... I don't know. I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

Put it this way..... If you're going to rebuild an engine, and spend the money on the machine work, all you have to do is spend another ~$100 for a newer block that's designed for that setup.

Then you get a 1 pc rear main seal as well.

So am I saying it wouldn't work? No. I obviously does.

Is it worth the time, money, and trouble? Not IMHO.

I don't know why it wouldn't work. All your trying to do is hold the roller lifters straight. I'd like to hear from someone who has done this also.

It depends on if YOU (the person doing the work and dealing with the results) feel it's worth it.

I don't have to smell a pile of dog poo to tell you it stinks. But I suppose you could walk over and sniff it if you're that worried about it.

Or maybe someone that has already sniffed it can tell you.
