About changing my fuel pump

I got a tbi right now and will be converting to tpi soon. The question i ask is i was gonna take out the rear and paint it all up and put all my new spohn parts on and put on pbr calipers. While it is out it would be a good time to change the pump could i go ahead and change to the tpi pump and run it on the tbi for while?? Would it hurt nething. Also where is the best place to get a good pump i dont want some cheap autozone one that will go out in like a yr i heard people have problems with them.

You'd have to find a regulator to tone the pressure down... to something like 15PSI or so.

Waboro seems to be a popular choice in pumps for aftermarket.

FWIW, my pump's still the original ('89) with 125K miles on it...knock on wood

Ya, I don't think the TBI regulator will handle it. You'd best check up on this with the pump manufatcure, make sure what you need to use to tone it down to a usable pressure, and if it's capable.

I'd agree, while the rear is out, it's the easiest time to drop the tank.

Do a little research, maybe hit a speed shop or two and see what they know. I've never noticed this question before, but could be worth a search...maybe try the TBI board as well...never know.

Good luck
