What is this part?


what is this part? like a little 1/2 cylinder located just above/behind the brake booster? and what does it do? im restoring the engine and dont know how to hook this part up. thanks.

I think it is the air reserve for the HVac controls.

You need it.

It has one small port, that the thin plastic vacuum line that goes to the firewall hooks to; and one larger port, that hooks to vacuum on the engine, right behind the carb.

does it effect fuel delivery though? because that is where my main problem is.

It would affect air delivery.... as in vacuum leak. Doesn't have anything to do with fuel itself though.

would that by cahnce have anything to do with how the carb plate stays open versus closed at idle? for a while, the carb plate stayed closed at idle so when i fired the car up it red lined
