Has anyone paid to have their engine rebuilt/overhauled? I'm talking about dropping the car off at a engine rebuild/overhaul shop and picking it up when it is done. I'm not talking about building the engine up or anything, just rebuilt/overhauled to factory specs? If you have, can you post how much you paid?

Also, is rebuilding/overhauling an over kill - I have an oil leak from the rear of the engine?

For just a leak, yes, rebuild/overhaul is overkill.
