CAM INSTALL QUESTIONS, !IMPORTANT!

I'm swapping from a stock roller cam to a Comp Cams extreme energy 274. The specs are 230/236 .487/.490.

Will this cam be ok with my stock heads? Will the comp cams 981's work ok if I don't use 1.6 rockers? There has been lots of discussion over 1.25" springs having problems over .500" lift.

Also I read somewhere that when installing a flat tappet timing chain in a roller block there is clearance problems between the chain and the block. The block then needs to be grinded down slightly. Thanks.

Or..you could just use a roller cam timing set.

are you 100% sure they are interchangeable?

the bolt circle is differant on the roller and non roller timing gear.

Doh..I misread your post, and thought you were using a roller cam with a flat tappet timing set. Yeah, the bolt circle is different, as is the nose of the cam, but there are no clearance problems with the block when using a flat tappet timing set/cam. At least I didn't when I did that.
