Fuel Filter Problems

Alright i need to replace my fuel filter. So I went to the fuse box and took out the fuse labeled "FP" to releve the presure. All it did was sound ****y and blew tons of water out the exaust pipe. It never died and I ran it for about 10 min. I kno that i didnt pull a fuel injector out, so whats the problem here?

If you have a tpi, there are two fuses for the injectors. They are labeled inj 1 and fp/inj 2. The fastest and simplest way to relieve the fuel pressure in the tank is to simply remove the gas cap from the tank. You will still have a little fuel in the line but it won't be spraying all over the place.
If it blew tons of water out the exhaust pipe, then you have an entirely different and more serious problem.

When I got my car 4 years ago, I changed the fuel filter. I didn't pull any fuses. :lala: I just unscrewed the gas cap, and got a coffe can or 2 to catch the gas drips, and jacked up the car on the driver's side (with something under it in case the jack bailed out). I had lots of gas dripping on me, but it's a pretty slow, constant drip, not pouring out. It was a PITA to get the new filter on tight, since it's awkward down there, and you're trying not to bend the gas line, etc. Oh, yeah, I put the gas cap back on, once I took it off, to slow down the drip as much as possible.

Alright thanks I'l do that then. The whole idea of pulling fuses doesnt sound good anyways. The owner before me had to replace it also. I think I might need a new gas tank because I have a feeling there might be some rust building up
