Oil pump gasket?

I'm assembling the motor for the 86 now and I got to the oil pump. My friends that are helping suggested that I install a gasket between the block and the oil pump. Well there wasn't one in the gasket kit and the parts store didn't list one.

Has anyone who has rebuilt their motor heard of this? Is it needed to keep proper oil pressure?

Thanks!

I've never used one. I didn't know anything of the sort existed. I don't think your friends know what they are talking about.

Question: How much are you paying these guys for their advice?

That's what I thought.

At least you're getting your money's worth...

haha ok, no gasket. They're really pretty smart about engines and the only reason they had for thinking that there should be one was that in a shop class last year the teacher had made one for an old 283 they had rebuilt in class.

Thanks for the help guys
