It's cold out!(wintercar problems..)

Need alittle help from you fuel injection guys,i put my Camaro away and run a 91'pontiac Sunbird with a 2.0 litre-4 in the winter months. The problem seems to get worse when the temp goes south, It starts up pretty well,no excessive turning, but then it surges up and down whether the engine is warm or not ,when i step on the gas it hesitates badly and almost stalls. It seems fuel related, but i don't know what to look for first. The fuel filter has been changed not to long ago,and i ran a bottle of injector cleaner through her about a week ago.Could a sensor somewhere be doing this,or are the injectors so clogged that fuel only drips through the throttlebody?(It does have about 225,000 kms on it..) Any ideas?I really can't afford to take this to a shop so soon after Christmas.I know it's not a Camaro question, but you guys are some of the most knowledgeable people i know of .

MTCAMARO,

I had a similar problem with my 89 TPI 350....
it would start ok, surge up & down, and finally hesitate when I went to go.

In my scenario, it was a sensor called the Idle Air Control (IAC) sensor. It is my understanding that this sensor tells the engine how much air is coming into the engine.

I'm not firmiliar with your setup, but you might want to check whatever sensor is responsible for measuring the incoming air.

If this is not the problem, I would look for vaccuum leaks and check the injectors.

I hope this helps. Best of luck.
