why is RPM limited?

why is the RPm stopping at 5000 RPM. I mean cant the engine possibly go faster than that? Is the computer stopping the engine at 5000 or the engien just stock at it.

If its the computer what would you have to do to stop the computer from limiting the RPM. If i were to get a supercharger, then the air wouldn't be short at higher RPMs because it will be compressing it.

So what is happening?

IIRC theres nothing in the ecm to stop it from going past 5k. The things that probably do it are valve float, being out of the engines powerband, tuned port intake, and a restrictive exaust. Why do you want to go above 5k? With the tpi theres no need to rev past 4500 since the engine will no longer be making power out there.

you've maxed out the ability of the engine to move air in and back out. figure out what the restriction is and you'll be able to move past that limit to the next one.
