Emissions test??

Ok now that I have finally moved back to Mass where they have gotten stricter on emissions, I'm not sure if I will pass. The last state didn't have emissions testing. I have a 85 firebird formally with a 2.8 V-6. I have since pulled it out and replaced it with a no emissions what so ever 327. I do have a catco race catalyic converter 2 1/2 inch about 1.5 years old, but that is the only emmissions on it. I have the breater instead of PCV valve. The only Vaccum line is my power brake booster line (I have a mechanical advance mallory unilite distributor). Its got a weiand stealt intake 23 degree trick flow heads and a carter 600 cfm carb with 1" spacer. Also I have a 6A MSD box and an accel super coil and a few other race parts. From what I have been told is that a well tuned race motor is pretty clean and with a catalyic converter I will pass, but I just want to make sure. I'm not worried about the visiual insp, because I know a place that after opening the hood and looking at the motor, asked my friend with a 67 nova with a 350 if it was a 4 or 6 cyclinder engine. They also asked after driving my other friends car in themselves, if it was standard or auto, so I am pretty sure I'm safe on the visual insp. Just want to make sure it will be ok when the comp spits out those numbers and says if I passed or failed. Also if you think it might not pass, are there any tricks you guys know to help???

Don't even make me laugh, No way wil a 327 pass any modern emissions test, especially in a V6. I'm really sorry, and I fell you pain.

When I said they were strict I didn't say they were as strict as California. I know I wouldn't pass there. But In mass they still use the tail pipe sniffer. I was told it should pass as long as I got the mixture right. Also NASCAR mortor which have no emissions what so ever as supposed to be the cleanest engines out there. One of my friends had an 86 GMC motor which falls under emissions laws. It had no emissions on it either but still passed. I know my car isn't the cleanest but It should be close on whether it will pass or not. I just want to know if it will and how to make it pass if it won't?

If its tuned right you could pass, but I would be worried about visual if I were you. See if you cant find a friend or friend of a friend who is a smog tech so you dont have to worry about that, and then have him check it with the sniffer without running the test yet.

Thanks, I was just worried about the tail pipe test. I know a palce where visual insp is not a prob. As I said before these people had to ask if my friends Nova was a 4 or 6 when it was an 8. They also drove my other friends truck and after driving it in for the test they asked him if it was a standard or automatic.... so I am confident that the place wont be asking anything about stuff not being there as long as I pass the tail pipe sniffer... thanks
