Fuseable Link
HI I am looking to buy an 88 camaro convertible, it has an 86 corvette 350 tpi and the only thing it needs is a "Fuseable Link Coming Off The Starter Solenoid" Says that it shorted out since it was loose. Is this an easy fix. What exactly is the 'fusebale link'? Thanks

Its function is similar to a fuse in the fuse block. It is a wire with a metal section in it that will melt when it gets too much amperage through it. It is an easy fix. You will see them on the small wires going to the starter solenoid.

I had that one go out in my 86 IROC... nothing major to fix (taking you can get under the car and get your hands up by the starter LOL) and the piece was relatively inexpensive too.

Ive been reading that fusible links, the wire is hard to come by, I looked for a part, only see an actual fuse. The fuse is the newer style, where can I get an actual wire, its a "16GA-rust" the haynes manual says.

Go to any auto parts store and ask for a fusible link in 16 guage wire. It will come with a terminal lug on one end and you will have to splice it onto the old wire.
