AC Blower Motor and Evaporator Core Removal

I was just wondering if I would remove my AC evaporator core and blower motor to free up some engine bay space, if it would effect my heater and defroster functioning. Also what is behind the evaporator core and blower motor. Is there a big hole in the firewall. I have already removed my AC compressor. Any help would be appreciated.

Matt

couple of options.
1. do as i did. remove evap/blower box completly and cover the open spaces. i was able to do this because the car is only driven when weather permits. no rain snow salt etc.oh yeah gotta be above 60 deg

2.you could hit a salvage yard: or buy new a box designed for the car that had no a/c from the factory other than that i don't know but i'm pretty sure you can't reuse the blower motor because of mounting difficulties.
hope that helps

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably start by hitting the junk yards to find a non AC heater box. Are there any other parts that would be needed besides the heater box. Also is the non AC heater box much smaller than the AC heater box?
