430HP ZZ motor ...?

I heard that these are made by sticking a hot cam in a 380hp fastburn motor? Has anyone here done it? are they good enough for the street, driveability and vacuum wise ??

That's a good question. I know the LT4 hot cam is suposed to do wonders for total hp but I don't know about the vacuum or streetability. I know you'd need a much higher stall converter.

I have a zz430 clone by swaping in the hot cam. Salle chevrolet did it for me a couple of months ago. While they were at it I had them swap on a edelbrock water pump. The pump that comes with the fastburn isnt a reverse rotation. I dont have it in the car yet because I am still waiting on headers that fit the d shaped exaust ports of the fastburn heads. I have emailed a few guys because i didnt want to get to radical of a cam by adding the Hot cam. Everbody I emailed said the motor was an ulimate sleeper and had no trouble with the idle.

what would a 383 do with the hot cam?. everything would be the same as the zz430 but the stroke of a 400.

That's a good question, as I can remember Jeff from Scoggin D. said that the 383 was available with a stronger bottom end too so that may be something to think about..

Go check out www.sallee-chevrolet.com They took a HT383 truck motor and did the "ZZ430" thing to it. I think the are calling it a ZZ450?? Anyway go check it out.

It should idle and drive great w/ the HOT cam I would think. I mean, the duration is what, 218/228 @ .050. I'm running a 218/224 cam and it is very easily streetable, not even remotely on the edge or anything...

Don't you need to swap in 1.6 rockers as well as the HOT cam in order for the Fast Burn 385 to be a clone of the ZZ430?

Yes, I believe they are part of the HOT cam kit.
