Stuck lifter?

When the car is cold as in cold weather, when I start it up it sounds like one of the rockers have fallen on an bouncing around in the cover. Okay, a little exadurated but it is pretty loud and it does sound like metal to metal contact. After the car runs for a little bit and heats up it goes away a little bit. My theory that one of the lifters are stuck or collaped and when the oil pressure builds up then it starts work. What do you guys think?

Hydrolic lifters will bleed down to a point. So yes they will be a little noisier on startup until they pump up w/ oil again...

This isn't just a little noisey. I know this is not normal. I can sit in the car with the windows rolled up and the radio blasting and I can still hear it.

I thought about that but I believe a dirty injector would be more of a tick.

How long does it take for your oil pressure to buildup? minutes? seconds? Have you removed the valve covers to make sure everything is as they are supposed to be under there?

I removed the valve covers and everything looked okay. It only happens when it is cold outside. It only happens for a few minutes until the oil pressure and engine temp rises.

ive got the same problem........and now ive developed a miss/vibration around 1800rpm ........i think one of my lifters in #8 cyl finally colapsed because its showing 150 psi and 175 on all the other cylinders on the compression test......i checked for broken rings or a cracked piston but found nothing.....
