pulley and EGR question

Im finishing up my new exhaust and was considering thorwing an underdrive pulley on there because i've got two weeks before i can get the car out so why not. I would like an aluminum one but if i cant find one at a good price I'll get the steel one for $50. Anyone know where i can get an aluminum underdrive crank pulley for about that price?
I'd also need a new serpentine belt, one for the smaller pulley and a removed smog pump, if anyone knows the length that would be great, but if you dont how do you measure the length? I was going to use a string, but do you do it with the tension pulley up or down?

I've been throwing EGR codes for about a year now, since i believe this makes my engine run richer (i think) and i dont want to foul out the new plugs im throwing in, i thought i'd replace that. Anyone know where you can buy an EGR valve cheap? Im checking summit, jegs, and GM parts direct now, if you know of others please share.

thanks,
-chuck

You will have better luck here with the pulley. As for the EGR just go to your local parts store. It is not worth it to have one shipped to you. That should cure your problem.

yea, wasnt sure where to put it. Actually local auto parts stores want nearly $80 for it. GM parts direct only wants $40 for it. What other online stores are there?

It is hard to beat GM PD. They are really cheap. You will pay a bit for shipping but it is sually still really cheap. I would just go with that $40 one you found.

A pulley is easy to install and is only a couple of bolts. An LT1 pulley will not work.

Don't forget that the crank pulley usually comes paired with a smaller alternator pulley. If you don't do the alternator pulley as well then you stand a good chance of not driving the alternator fast enough to support your car and keep the battery fully charged. Been there and done that I'm afraid to admit.

yea, autozone is like twice as much as GM PD, oh well, i thought a part as generic as an EGR valve would be cheaper there too, then i wouldnt have to deal w/ shipping, and waiting, and what not but aparently not.

how do you measure the length that the belt will need to be? tensioner up or down?
