first off i would like to say hi to you all

ok i have a 1991 rs camaro and live in rushden northants,ive had the car for 3 years now,and have spent a fortune getting it to the state its in now which is the mutts nuts imo

today just got it mot'd got it home,went to take it out for a quick blast and the damn thing wont start

the engine service light stays on,the engine turns but wont fire,and i can smell fuel,i tried to reset the ecm,by disconnecting the battery,but i still have the same problem,service engine light stays on and engine wont fire
if anyone can suggest a solution it would be much appreciated,or do you know of any business or mechanic that could come to me as i cant get the car to them?

I'm afraid injection is above me at the moment(dirty old carb until the 400ci turbo motor comes together)but you could ask the same question on the TECH/GENERAL ENGINE board.One of the things that board deals with is not starting.By the way what a lucky bugger living so close to the Pod.

I trust you tried the usual stuff, like checking for a spark, and anything blocking the flow of air to the intake? I would be more inclined to say ignition, since you say it doesn't fire, which I presume to mean it cranks with absolutely no firing at all. If there was a spark AND fuel in the chamber, there would at least be a stumble.

Since the engine service light comes on and stays on, it should have a trouble code stored in the computer. Have you tried pulling those codes yet, if so, what are they?
