Distributor Clamp Down Bolt...What tool do you use?

I can't seem to get to this thing no matter how hard I try... I can read it at about 4 degrees ATDC...which is not good. Don't understand why it is running as good as it does with the timing that far off.

Yup, plunk down for a dist. wrench. And heres a tip from a guy who just set TPI timing for the first time theother day...take the vacuum lines off the EGR solenoid and the wrench will fit between theports so you have a real range to turn through.

The distributor wrench sold at Sears is the best for these cars I think. It fits perfect. The size is 9/16 and costs like $9.

Spend the money for the dist. wrench. Also remove the two 10 mm or 3/8 bolts that hold the coil and the vac. switch to the bracket on the intake. Thats the simplest way, it takes an extra 2 min if that.

9/16 crowfoot with an extension works really good, too, without having to move any other lines or parts...

I found that the dist wrench interfered with the rear of the TPI lower intake manifold, but the 9/16 crow's foot was a perfect fit.

there are two kinds of distributor renchs i buy, the ones from snap-on that cost 40 dollars each and fit the application they were made for. the other is the cheap universal wrench from sear that i heat with a torch and bend where i need to get it to fit. if you have a torch the second is way cheaper.

Get a dist wrench, get a cheap Chinese one from the local parts shop. They will normally interfre because the bottom length. I heated mine for 5 minutes with a propane torch and added another L bend about 1 inch from the opening. just another idea

In my 84 Firebird w/v6 I bought a distributor wrench, but it didn't fit. The 9/16 was too small. So I used a 15mm socket 1/4 inch drive with a swivel extension in it. That was the only thing I could get to work on it. But then again, every time someone says to use this certain size, it's always something different. My car is weird like that.
