305 Stroker Motor

Hey guys, just read a little while ago about the possibility of stroking a 305 to a 323 with a 400 crank. I had never heard of that before, has anyone done this and had good success?

Just curious, I'm always ready to learn

I will move this so that the engine builders can chime in. You will find that the 335 stroker is the most common. However, its costs does not justify the power gians.

A 400 crank in a 305 block (bored .030) will give you a 335.

I'd advise against it though, because the 305 has bad enough breathing problems with the stock bore and stroke (3.75 x 3.48) and the longer stroke of the 400 crank would only make the problem worse. It would be very torquey down low, but it would be gutless above 3000 rpms.

Im with the other two. If you look into it, the power versus money put into it ratio does not justify the build up. You can build a 350 and stroke that to a 383 for about the same amount and still have an engine to use in the car for a daily driver. THe 383 will out power the 335 on the same part-for-part basis any day of the week.

My vote goes to save your money and do a 383. That also leaves a functional engine in the car that allows you to run around still.

for the effort and cost you'll get less than if you just went to a 350
