My new 1983 Berlinetta, or so i think
Well, i recently got what i believe is a 1983 camaro berlinetta... i decoded the vin and it sed 83 so im sticking with that. I own a 2k3 jetta and wanted a project car for me and my dad to work on.. so we picked this baby up for like 200$
My question is how can i find the engine code? is it printed on the block somewhere? ive looked all over the net and searched a litle bit here. I would love ANY information about the 1983 camaro.
ex. (easiest engine swap, common problems, anything that will aid the recovery of this car)

Look somewhere in the middle of that thread and this guy by the name of RB83something or other (who is rumored to type really fast) has a good post on the where and how.
Now, for future reference, we have a Search feature that ain't half bad. You want to learn, use the search, it can keep you occupied for hours. HTH.

If it is the original engine and its a small block, then it is a 305. Chevy didn't put anything else in the Camaros until 1987.

Could be a V6.
The 8th character of the VIN is the engine code.
