Cam choice
With my set up iam not to sure what cam to use. My set up is
383
Eagle 383 kit
Afr 195 heads
rpm air gap intake
edelbrock 750 carb
hooker 2055 exhaust
700r4
3:42 gear
What cam do you think would be best. This motor is a hydraulic flat tappet.
Thank you

I have an Eagle 383 with AFR 195s, an RPM Air-Gap, Demon 750DP, Crane Gold RRs, Hooker 2210s, and a 2500 stall. I went with the Comp XE274 (230/236 520/523 with 1.6, 110*). Once I get it fired up and driving (this week), I'll be able to tell you how it works out.

With the AFR heads and their better-than-stock exhaust/intake ratio, I'd suggest a more nearly symmetrical cam than an off-the-shelf XE.
Call Comp and have them grind you a custom one ($25 - big whoop) with a 5446 intake lobe and a 5208 exhaust lobe. Have them grind it on 110° lobe separation and 106° intake lobe center. Run 1.6 roller rockers such as their 1302. http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Cu...ML/238-273.asp

Comp reccomonded an XE grind as well. I think the E/I was 73% at max lift and a little higher at low and mid lift.
