Looking to mod my car, stock 305.
Howdy! I recently bought an 85 Z28 with 305ci 4-barrel. This is my first third gen btw.
I was wondering if anyone might have a list lying around, or might know where i could find one,. of all the possible mods I could do to this thing, including exhaust and tranny. I don't want to swap the engine.
If anyone could help me out, even give me a few ideas that would be awesome.
Sorry this is an inane question but I don't know a whole lot about modding these.
Funny coming from a mechanic. =P
Thanks guys!

Welcome aboard.
Which "305 4-barrel" does make a difference. Most likely you have the LG4 VIN code H. It's not a bad platform from which to start.
My sig lists my attempt. If you have to prioritize, here's my suggestions:
1) & 2) These both need to be done, so I'll put them together. Exhaust and air cleaner. Get rid of all of the exhaust starting at the head exhaust ports and all the way back. Get headers, cat, and cat-back for '86-'90 TPI single cat application. Whether emission-compatible or not is your call, but the Hooker 2055's (which are) have argueably the best y-pipe available. The air cleaner needs to be a dual snorkel, whether factory-type or homemade.
3) Cam. The factory piece is pretty lame, and the aftermarket has stepped up nicely. Computer compatible types are available that keep the ECM happy and run quite nicely.
4) Heads. Either port the factory ones and install 1.94" intake valves and all new springs & retainers, or go with the World S/R Torquer 305 pieces. The Worlds also benefit from some porting.
This assumes proper ignition performance and carb tuning (basically the secondary rods & hanger, and AV adjustment). After that you're going to have consider a torque converter stall change and suspension upgrades.

It's a whole series of articles on a 305 camaro, this way you will know what to expect from the mods.
